Why? Why? Why?

Why is it acceptable to show the inside of your butt but not the outside. An example is Katie Couric who for a very good cause had a colonoscopy on TV. But why is the close up of the inside ok while one of the outside would cause a scandal?

And while we are at it, why is it ok for men in the US to show their nipples but women can't?

  1. You are asking for logic where there is none to be found. Look up the New York Top Free Protest for some fun.

  2. Kati, just for the record, I'm for showing the outside of the butt! Especially Katie Couric's! And, too, I'm all for her showing her nipples. And you showing yours! I welcome all women to show both their butts and their nipples! Further, I'll cover mine up for awhile, if you'd like, to even it out. Or not, up to you. I'm easy that way. :-) See? We can work this out. :-)

  4. Tonto, body ornaments and clothing are indeed arbitrary --a bit like those bowers some bird create out of bright colored items to impress potential mates....

When I thought in Vancouver (the Canadian one!) some of my students were at the forefront of a "top free" protest... but they still got arrested....
